Chairman’s Report Since taking over as Chairman Charlestown in September this year we have managed to set up Charlestown mini-soccer centre for children from 5-8 years old. This is held on a Saturday morning from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at St Mewan School. Thank you to John Peters and all of the coaches who have given up their time to make this a success. As you probably now know, Charlestown Youth Football Club have purchased a 17.5 acre site at Nanphyssick near St Mewan so that we can re-locate. To find the funds to make the plans for this site a reality will be a huge challenge but we are currently working with several different bodies to try to access the funds needed. The plans are for 7 mini-soccer pitches and 4 full size pitches along with 6 changing rooms and a multi-function room. The tree planting scheme is up and running and the first lot of trees have been ordered. I am delighted to have taken on the role of Chairman of Charlestown and look forward to the challenges ahead. Look out for the Charlestown website which should be up and running in the next couple of weeks. Phil Dingle Charlestown under 7’s Manager—Sana Rolef At present I have 18 children attending regularly. 10 children are in school year 2 and the other 8 are 5 & 6 years old. Two weeks ago we played Charlestown under 8’s in a friendly and we only lost 2-1 and all the children played very well. Thank you to all the parents for their support. Charlestown under 8’s Manager Paul Burley This is our first season of competive football and so far the players have done spectacularly well. The team is made up of mostly 7 year old players who are competing against mainly older and more experienced players in the East Cornwall U9 B league. Having played 4 matches the team have won 2 and lost 2, and are currently placed 4th in the league. I am delighted with the way the team are developing and with the commitment of both players and parents alike. Overall an amazing start in a league which we entered to have fun and gain experience for the future.Charlestown under 13 girls Manager Jane O’Brien/Kev Rosevear The girls have got off to a great start to the season with results so far as follows:- Charlestown 8 St Agnes 1 Falmouth 3 Charlestown 3 Culdrose Pumas 1 Charlestown 2 Charlestown 3 Goonhavern Skys 1 Charlestown 4 Holmans 1 St Agnes 1 Charlestown 10 The girls are currently top of the league and are looking forward to the rest of the season! Charlestown under 9’s - Rovers & Argyle Manager - John Peters Thanks to Jamie Hughes and her team for our Halloween Party - a good turn out of about 50+ boys and families with some fantastic costumes. Everyone once again pulled together to make this a fantastic evening. The spread of food, the well decorated hall, own our personal DJs Simon and Martin. Games and fun were had by ALL children and adults. We are now looking forward to our Xmas Party in December.Rovers have had a good start to their season in the A league winning two and losing two of their 1st 4 games. The latest a cracking game at Torpoint. Although losing 3-2 some exceptional football was played, most people agreeing a draw would have been a fair result.Argyle team have unfortunately lost their 1st 3 games the latest being a 2-1 defeat against Tregorrick. This is the 1st season for Argyle in competitive football where they have more than held their own. All 14 of the squad have enjoyed the opportunity of playing league football. Charlestown Forest under 9’s Manager—Shaun Cross ' Last season Charlestown Forest won the Under 9's A league in the East Cornwall Youth League. So far this season we are off to a promising start being undefeated in the first 4 matches. The boys and their parents have great team spirit and I would like to thank them for all their hard work. The team were passed over to me for my first season as manager by Quentin Trays who did a fantastic job.Charlestown Forest have been sponsored by Bodmin Blocks for the last 2 years and have supplied us not just with a smart kit but also full weatherproofs which have proved to be valuable on those miserable wet days. Myself and the team greatly appreciate this support. Thankyou. Shaun ' Charlestown under 11’s Manager Andy Hoskin Rapid Charlestown are currently top of La Liga in the Kernow league having played, and won all their games 3-0, 5-2, 5-0 & 4-0. Charlestown under 13’s Manager - Tim Cutlan Under 13's AC Charlestown have made a fantastic start to the season - 3 wins out of 3 and sitting clear at the top of the League. The highlight a 6-0 away win at Atlantic Porth, our main rivals over the past 5 years. Congratulations to the boys on the start and long may the good form continue. Charlestown under 15’s Manager - Phil Dingle We play in the Kernow A league and so far this season we have won 2 league matches and lost 1. I was very pleased with the way the boys bounced back after losing to Falmouth -they beat Hayle 5-1 away from home in the next match playing some really good football. Our most recent match was a cup match away to last years league champions Alverton. I was delighted when after a very hard fought match we came away with a 3-0 victory. I hope that this season continues to be an enjoyable season with the boys developing their football skills further. Thank you to all the parents who regularly support the team.
