Tree planting now complete around whole perimeter of field.  Approximately 700 trees have been planted in the last month!  Thank you to those members of the club who contributed to the scheme.  Thanks also to Heligan Gardens, Imerys, Charlestown Regatta Committee, Duchy Nurseries and English Nature for their help with this scheme.

Charlestown football club has been established in the St Austell area for over 25 years and for the last 15 years we have used the facilities at Blackpool, Trewoon; we have hired this area from Imerys. The club has grown considerably over the years, involving more and more children and we have rapidly outgrown our present site. Also, we were informed by Imerys over 2 years ago that the land was to be sold and this left us looking for a new home.

A 17 acre site has been secured and plans have been passed to provide 4 full size pitches and 7 mini soccer pitches. This will allow the club continue to cater for the number of young people already involved with Charlestown and for the future growth of the club. As a club, we provide sport for approximately 8% of the youth in the St Austell area (325 children) and we want to increase this number.

The club at present runs 14 boys teams from under 7 to under 16 and 5 girls teams from 10 too under 16. We also run a Saturday coaching session for children aged from 5 to 7 at St Mewan School with around 40 youngsters making use of this and we feel sure the numbers will increase.

Charlestown is a Football Association Charter Standard Club and all the coaches are qualified at least to level 1.

We have spoken to local schools and colleges who have mentioned they have a lack of facilities at their sites and would very much like to use and support our planned new facility.

Plans for new changing rooms and a multipurpose hall where meetings, conferences and a wide range of other activities can be catered for.

We want this to be a facility not only to be used by Charlestown football club but also by other community groups. We are keen to increase the number of members enjoying sport and we want to encourage more support. It is hoped as the club grows more volunteers will be encouraged into the club.

We promote and encourage participation by all regardless of race or religion, and ability.

At present the club has to pay in the winter to use a flood lit area and this is a major drain on our resources and we would like to use portable lighting to light a suitable area for winter training.

The plans for the changing rooms incorporates a large over hang on the roof this is to encourage supporters both able bodied and disabled to come and watch and become involved and feel part of the club.

We are hoping to move forward with the development of the site over the next couple of years and hope that the future for Charlestown Y.F.C. will be very bright!
